Hebrew consists of 22 consonant letters, and vowels, or Nikud, which are sometimes printed above or below the consonants. Most Israeli adults learn to read Hebrew without vowels. In fact, newspapers and magazines are printed without the vowel dots.

Vowels, called Nikud, are dots and other small symbols printed above or below the consonants. For example, a “Kamatz” looks like a small “T” symbol, and is pronounced as the “AH” sound (as the “a” in father). The “Segol” is three small dots, appears under a consonant, and is prounced like the “E” in the word “egg”.

The Hebrew tutorial, “At Home with Hebrew” was created to teach the letters and vowels one step at a time. For example, the first lesson teach two consonants, ALEPH and BET, and three vowels that each appear under the letter.

So for example, the exercises in the first lesson, if they were in English letters, would have your pronouncing practice syllables like this: BAHBAH BABEH BEHBAH, VAHBAH, BAHVAH, BEHVAH, VEHBAH, BAHB, BAHV.

The second lesson adds to more consonants (Dalet and Gimmel), then the exercises rehearse the two new letters with the vowels from the prior lesson. For example DAH, GAH, DEH, GEH, DAHDAH, GAHGAH, DAHGEH, GAHDEH, DAHD, GAHG, DAHG.

Step by step, one or two more vowels are introduced. For example, the TZEREH, which can be pronounced like “EH” sound. The same consonants are then mixed with the new vowel sounds: For example: DEH, GEH, BEH.

Towards the end of a lesson, the student is reviewed on letters from prior lessons, as well as letters from the current lesson. This makes sure that the learner retains information from prior lessons. So now, the student could try to pronounce syllables like: BEEGEE, BOOGOO, DOODAHD, VOODOO, BEEVAH, and so on.

When a new letter is introduced, such as the letter “Gimmel”, the program compares that letter to other letters that might be similarly shaped. For example, GIMMEL is similar to VAV, GIMMEL has a boot at the bottom (kind of like the country Italy). The student can see both letters side by side, and the program describes the differences so the student will not be confused.

By the end of the 13th lesson, the student will have learned all 22 letters and all the nikudot (vowels). Even though the student may not know the meaning of a word, he should be able to pronounce any printed Hebrew word. At this point, the student is ready to move on to vocabulary.

When I first started learning Hebrew in 1994, most books jumped into teaching sentences and grammar, and only covered the Hebrew alphabet on one or two pages. You really cannot learn how to read Hebrew with just one or two pages of training. You really need a whole course dedicated to that subject.

Finally, I found an exercise book that was dedicated to just teaching a person to read the Hebrew letters. This book would teach one letter, and a few vowels in the first chapter. The second chapter would follow-up with the same letter, and add another letter and another vowel or two. In Hebrew, the vowels are written below or above the Hebrew letters, and they are called Nikud.

In this style, I was able to work through the book, and finally learned to read Hebrew. However, the downside of a book is that it had now way to pronounce the word audibly for me. I was left to my own guess of what the pronunciation should be.

So even these “readers” were lacking. If I only had my own personal Hebrew tutor working with me, then I could have learned even faster. Since I was a computer software developer, I knew that the computer could take the place of the tutor, and pronounce the words for me.

My search began to find Hebrew fonts that were appropriate, and a good multimedia software program called “Toolbook”. That was the easy part; the hard part was developing the dozens of words, lessons, and system of combingin them. I almost wore out the pages of my printed Hebrew dictionary.

I didn’t choose to teach the alphabet in alphabetic order. Instead, I chose letters based on their shape and their frequency of use. Eventually, I found a talented singer and speaker to record over 2700 voice files, which then had to be meticulously edited on the computer.

The final work invovled creating a professional CD/ROM with a nice jacket insert. The program evolved from being sold on diskettes (remember those?) with no sound, to a CD/ROM with over 2700 sound files. Each year since then, via internet marketing only, we have sold hundreds and hundreds of the tutorial.

When I first started “At Home with Hebrew” in 1994, the concept of selling on the internet was still new; some people even questioned if it was legal. I learned Microsoft FrontPage and created the first version of my website, and over the years the site had grown to sell many other Hebrew tutorials. Our recent products include “Hebrew Kindergarten” and “Songs of the Shabbat”.

To total it up in a casual sentence, the study of the human anatomy is the scientific study of the human body. Now this is where the word casual stops. Once you begin your studies, there is no question that once you read the first few lines of the introduction you are going to ask , what did I get myself into . Do Not panic. The knowledge you are going to gain from the subject of the human anatomy, with connect and associate into a organized style just as the human body does.

You will shortly read that you study a set of facts it will take you onto a different set of facts. If you study in blocks of facts, before you acknowledge it you are going to have a very thorough foundation in the study of medication. Its very much like working on a jig saw puzzle. You do all the frames then start filling in the parts. it’s the corresponding with your studies. The basic principles are your frames, and so all the systems and functions are the parts. Thinking about it this way perhaps takes away some of the panic and doubts you are now experiencing. You will get frustrated along the way. You have probably often been told take one day at a time, now I am suggesting that you take one body region at time. Before you know it you will standing in front of a group of individuals proudly accepting your diploma.

It’s interesting to discover that when a scholar is analysing the human anatomy and somebody asks what are they learning. That somebody will say, oh I am going to be a Doc or nurse, etc . They will distinguish the profession as opposed to the subject. Very rarely will you see them say I am learning the human anatomy.

Acquiring on with your subjects will most likely start with your introduction. Right from the beginning you are going to study a entirely new speech, being medical terminology. There is no escaping from it. If you are going to be entering the medical world then you need to know how to talk in the medical world. If you do not, you will become all lost, and will more than in all probability fail your course. Once again this is not so difficult if you set up numerous learning patterns. Let me give you an illustration.

You will read the scientific study of the morphology of the human body.

Great the starting sentence and the 1st medical word morphology. So now what do you do.
No uncertainty you will have some medical resources that has a terminology part. Set Out there, look up the word morphology. Does it say in fairly simple terms that it is the study of outer appearance. Like the shape ,structure, color, pattern of an organism.

Ok now rewrite the introductory sentence in easier terms, like this, The scientific study of the (morphology) which is the outer visual aspect of an organism, such as the shape ,structure, color, and pattern. Congratulations you just mastered your introductory medical term. Now how do you remember? Write this sentence on a study sheet, some ways, just as we did here. Highlighting the medical word with a yellow marker. At Present when it gets time to study you have your block. Remember as we previously published, learn in blocks? This is a good illustration.

The study of human anatomy and physiology has developed over the yrs with major advancements in research and IT. The typical individual just looks to slide on, taking any new medical advancement, when and as wanted. For example, you have recently learned that you have high blood pressure. Not a big matter if its contained.

You part from the Physicians office with a prescription and go about your business. What could happen though, if that blood pressure medicinal drug was not available, or even worse ,if there have not been whatsoever IT, to even determine what your blood pressure was at. We all recognize that high blood pressure ,if remained untreated can lead to a stroke, and even death. This is but one example. let’s take a look at a few of the some other leading progressions in the survey of anatomy and physiology and visualise what hazards it protected us from and what benefits we get from it today.

How would you feel if you went into your Docto’rs clinic and as he was analysing you he pressed his ear up against your chest? No question you would be shocked, and the Doctor likely would confront sexual charges. Well you can give thanks to the invention of the stethoscope for rescuing you from that uncomfortable situation. The method I just named to you, was at some time the entirely method a doctor could hear to a patients heart.

To say the least it wasn’t the most effective idea ,but it was better than nothing. The difficulty with this method was in individuals who were overweight. The pounding heart could not be discovered through the layers of fat. It was this very problem that led a very originative Doctor by the name of Dr. Laennec, to the breakthrough of the stethoscope. Of course it has been advanced over the yrs but still it is one of the most entrusted diagnostic tools ready nowadays. If it were not for this tool, the numerous hearts arrhythmias that mortals suffer from would go unnoticed. All the credit goes to the study of the human anatomy and physiology.

As we earlier named, being able to recognize what a person’s blood pressure is, can mean saving their life. When you go into your Physician, and he puts that cuff round your arm that fills with force, where you think you arm is getting to slip, is addressed a Sphygmomanometer, usually knew as a blood pressure monitor. What blood pressure is, is plainly the power that the blood exerts on the blood vessel walls. Once More the reliable stethoscope proved to be a life saving tool, when Dr. Korotkoff developed a technique for hearing to the sounds of the blood flow of the artery, with the aid of the stethoscope. It led to a way of becoming an exceedingly accurate method of assessing the blood pressure.

The following time you pay a visit to your family doctor for your annual medical checkup, take some time to see all the instruments he will use during his examination of you. Then consider about what would be the effects if something were damage in the section where he was examining you, and it could’t be determined. When I carried out this little exercise at my yearly medical checkup I recognise just how fortunate I was, and that hr wait to see the doc didn’t seem to be such a inconvenience after all. In addition I had a entirely new respect for the survey of human anatomy and physiology.

If you enjoy helping other people, a career in the medical field might be for you. The field is always in demand of qualified compassionate individuals who are willing to put forth their best efforts to help others. A Nurse Assistant is an entry level position that will allow you the opportunity to help others and gain experience in the medical field.

The combination of classroom learning and clinicals will result in you being well prepared to enter the job market as a Nursing Assistant. Often, the medical site that oversees the clinicals will offer employment to those students who are learning well, following procedures for their facility, and who have a positive attitude.

Working as a Nurse Assistant can be very exciting and rewarding for the right person. The work is challenging and you may find yourself over extended at times. Things in a medical setting will change all the time, so the job definitely isn’t predictable. There are so many variables including the patients, then number of patients, other staff, and the medical needs of the patients that you work day with never be predictable.

Avoiding Burnout as a Nursing Assistant

The role of a Nursing Assistant is a demanding one. One of the biggest complaints from them is that they have too much to do, and not enough time to get it all done. Burnout is dangerous because it affects individuals emotionally, physically, and mentally. It is tough to see bright, compassionate Nursing Assistants leave the medical field because they have come to resent the role they have taken on. It no longer serves a purpose for them. What was once a positive experience has become a nightmare.

One important sign to watch for are looking for excuses to not go to work, calling off or asking to go home early on a regular basis, becoming easily annoyed with co-workers, envious of those who do enjoy their work, and not caring if you do a good job or not. It is likely you will start to experience physical and emotional exhaustion.

It is very important to take time for yourself. Relax with a warm bath or read a good book. Too often we take care of everyone else’s needs at work and at home, leaving nothing of ourselves for us! Since the healthcare profession is the top contender for employees suffering from burnout, Nursing Assistants need to really take head of this advice and put it to good use early on in their career. This will help ensure they continue to enjoy their work, offering patients the best possible care.

Education in schools has taken on a broader meaning than I remember it. Today there are a variety of events and activities that students have available to them outside of the classroom that add to their education. These things usually cost money. With cuts in school budgets, principals and PTA / PTO organizations have to turn to fundraising in order to raise the money needed for them.

It is fundraising that many consider to be like the “third rail” on a subway system. It is either viewed as the power source to make things go or it is viewed as the thing everyone wants to stay away from. However, a properly run fundraiser is a blessing for all. There really is no reason why teachers, volunteers, students, parents and the community should dread the start of the school fundraising drive. If the product is right, the incentives are worthwhile, the rewards will be enjoyed by all.

The fundraising programs that are generally viewed negatively are more often than not the ones that the organizers don’t take into account what the participants will be getting out of the fundraiser for themselves. This is especially true if their child is not one of those on the bus for the 5th grade field trip. Consider that even the First grade teachers have been raising money for that trip and they never get to go. After a few years that begins to wear down even the most soft hearted staff.

Have you ever noticed that there always seems to be one or two schools in your district that have better success in fundraising than others. You can even have two schools in very similar neighborhoods that have vastly different results even when doing very similar fundraising programs. What makes the difference? It’s not the products being sold or the neighborhood that makes that difference between those schools. It’s “How” those schools run their sale that makes more difference than any other factor in the outcome.

An example of this fact is Raymond Case Elementary in Sacramento, California. They have over 800 students and had never had a sale over $27,000. Last year, by making a change in the way they ran their sale they had over $52,000 in sales! All they did was change the way they did their fundraiser from all the years before. It wasn’t the product and they didn’t suddenly have a bunch of rich people move into their neighborhood. They just made a simple change in “How” they went about their fundraiser.

They not only raised more money but they also increased participation of parents and teachers when it came time for delivery. They had always had a problem of finding enough volunteers to help when it came time for delivery. This time they had to turn people away! Nothing like that had ever happened at that school before.

All that came because they chose to run their sale differently than they had been doing it all those years previous. Napoleon Hill once said, “You can get everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” That is the basis for changing the fundraising environment at your school.

Solving mysteries has always intrigued human beings. We love mystery novels and crime dramas because we want to uncover who the culprit is. In real life, advances in science also deal with unraveling a mystery. Instead of private investigators, processes like chromatography typically solve real-world mysteries.

Chromatography is a technique that helps scientists, law enforcement, and even schools and companies verify the composition of a particular sample. Basically, scientists need a process to separate organic from inorganic compounds. The word itself means “color writing” and the method was developed in the first part of the twentieth century. But since the 1950’s, chromatography has quickly developed as an important tool for the tricky job of analyzing materials and samples of unknown mixtures.

Although a wide number of different laboratory techniques fall under the general heading of chromatography, they all share the common operation of separating mixtures. A solvent carries the mixture to be studied through some kind of stationary material. As the mixture passes through the material, the analyte-the substance that needs to be identified-is separated and can be isolated.

There are several different varieties of chromatography that have a wide range of uses. Liquid Chromatography can be used to assess water for pollution levels, while Gas Chromatography is used to test materials as diverse as fibers or determine the presence of bombs at an airport. Thin-layer Chromatography provides an efficient way to determine if foods contain insecticides or pesticides. Although these examples are all pretty different, the process is the same. A mixture is broken down, and using other chemicals and processes, unknown elements in the mixture are identified.

Chromatography is a tool that we have developed to answer difficult questions involving health and public safety. Through the use of controlled chemical interactions and reactions, chromatography helps us get to the bottom of things.

You need to know how many chips everyone has at the table to make good decisions in no limit holdem. Let’s list a few hands that show why stack size needs to be in your thought process. Then, I think you will agree that stack size is key.

Here is a simple hand situation showing how play varies due to stack size. You are in a NL Holdem game with $1/$2 blinds. You are in the small blind with no action yet. You have $500 and hold 4,4. The player that’s the big blind has only $25, so you can simply go all in or make a bet and push after the flop. This should make you money.

Let’s see what happens if we change the big blinds stack to $500. Pushing all in wouldn’t be such a good idea. Even though you would win the blinds often, getting called spells disaster. You will normally lose $500 trying to steal $3.

Let’s look at it in an exaggerated way. How about having $100,000 all in for the $3. Your opponent calls with AA and nothing else, only a 1/220 chance. So in 220 tries you win three dollars 219 times. When AA hits he wins 80% and you win 20%. So on average you lose over $79,000 for every 220 tries.

Having an opponent that only calls with A,A would be nice for your bankroll if you go all in every time. You’d win $657 because he will fold 219 times. Then when he has AA, he would win $26. This makes you extremely profitable.

Now, you get 3,3 and have a $500 stack. The game is still $1/$2 and you just call. THe big blind chooses to raise to $10. His stack makes all the difference in what you will do.

With a $15 stack you could do any of the three choices. It would depend on your read of this opponent. Now, when his stack is $40 this becomes an easy fold.

You will make a set one in eight times and will only make at most five times the amount of the call. If he has $500, you can call for sure, or even raise if you want to represent a stronger hand. There are enough chips to win when you hit the flop to make calling profitable. Reraising will further scare your opponent.

6,7 suited is a hand that you should play when everyone has a lot of chips. There is plenty of money availiable to get big profits when you catch a monster. When no one has very many chips, you can’t make enough money when you hit the hand.

The big pocket pairs can cost you a lot of money if the stacks are big. These hands are hard to get rid of. When people hit their hands, you can pay heavily if you can’t let them go.

This situation is reversed with small stacks at the table and you can get aggressive with the big pairs. Often the preflop betting will commit you to the hand anyway. This is pretty mindless poker.

When stacks are short, you can play these hands all the way. You won’t be risking a huge chipstack with just a pair. Often the preflop bets will get you all in or to a point where you can push after the flop. So, this is an easier situation for playing with big pairs.
